GUTS OF DARKNESS (FRANCE) "The second album of the Bionight trilogy, The Rain is Over continues where The Art of Friendship had stopped. A lugubrious intro to reverberating waves opens Ice. Ghostly, the synth increases the effect of anxiety which splits on nervous sequences, giving a chaotic rhythm to a title which has nothing icy. Surrounding synth chasing away the initial spectral effect, and floody percussions, Ice rushes the rhythm on a prog rock approach with big solos of synthesized guitars. Sad and nostalgic, The Rain is Over brings us totally on the contrary to the explosive entrée whom is Ice. A beautiful melody which floats on spiral arpeggios and a fluty lyrical synth, which touches a small side slightly chthonian tinged with an oriental bouquet. A beautiful soft song, where the mellotron is particularly moving. If the oriental side attracts you, Mind Flight will charm you, although I find it a tendency sharply New Age. Alpha Circus takes place in spiral waterfall. A sweet dance with hiccupped chords which wed a sequence with a pace in waterfall, on a synth tenderly poetic. Soft sequenced whirlwind which gets entangled on the other one more synthesized, draping a rich and melodious sound texture, with scents whose look like Miramar years TD, solos of synth in more. A very good EM track. Without real movement Effort fits for an electro static electronic thunderstorm. Another beautiful moment on The Rain is Over. After the Storm (Effort) plunges us into an ambient universe where big austere organ navigates in a dark cosmos. Loud and tinted with a lyrical darkness, the movement drains itself in the galactic plains. Charming and smoothing. Walking Along the to Rivet is another amazing piece which fidgets on a sequencer in waterfall move which establishes it’s rhythmic on a spheroidalic axis. A sonorous exhilaration which swirls on a magnificent cosmic odes synth, surpassing the musing of Tomita. Magnificent piece. A strange military march paves the way to BIOhearT. A synth coos on this hallucinatory wandering, opening quite big doors in a heavy rotating sequence which wraps the movement of a wandering cascade. Scattered percussions, wrapping mellotron on a chaotic synth, the Italian duet manages to take away a melody of this muddled movement. Another small jewel which concludes the most puzzling and most complex Bionight album. The Rain is Over is a very good EM album and its pleasant to hear again a Bionight so creative and audacious. This Italian duet has the art to seduce with compositions highlighted with romanticism which borrows the paths of the analog years, with an avant-gardism touch appropriate to the Italian musical culture. Fantomatique, le synthé accentue l’effet d’inquiétude qui se fractionne sur des séquences nerveuses, donnant un rythme chaotique à un titre qui n’a rien de glacial. Synthé enveloppant, chassant l’effet spectral initial, et percussions avalanchées, Ice bouscule le rythme sur une approche prog rock avec de gros solos de guitares synthétisées. Triste et nostalgique, The Rain is Over nous amène totalement à l’opposé de l’explosive entrée qu’est Ice. Une belle mélodie qui flotte sur des arpèges en spirales et un synthé flûté et lyrique, qui effleure un petit côté légèrement chthonien teinté d’un effluve orientale. Un beau morceau tendre où le mellotron est particulièrement mouvant. Si le côté oriental vous attire, Mind Flight saura vous charmer, quoique je lui trouve un penchant nettement New Age. Alpha Circus se déroule en cascade spiralée. Une douce danse aux accords hoquetés qui épousent une séquence avec une cadence en cascade sur un synthé tendrement poétique. Doux tourbillon séquencé qui s’entortille sur un autre plus synthétisée, drapant une texture sonore riche et mélodieuse, avec des effluves qui ressemblent à du TD des années Miramar, solos de synthé en plus. Un très bon titre de MÉ. Sans réel mouvement Effort est digne d’un orage électro statique électronique. Séquenceurs houleux sur synthés respectant une harmonie déchirée entre l’abstrait et le concret, Effort finit par épouser une tangente valseuse imprévue qui en fait tout son charme. Un autre beau moment sur The Rain is Over. After the Storm (Effort) nous plonge dans un univers ambiant où une grosse orgue austère vogue dans un cosmos sombre. Lourd et teinté d’une obscurité lyrique, le mouvement se draine dans les plaines galactiques. Charmant et planant. Walking Along the River est un autre étonnant morceau qui frétille sur un séquenceur en cascade qui établit sa rythmique sur un axe sphéroïdal. Une ivresse sonore qui tourbillonne sur un superbe synthé aux odes cosmiques, surpassant les rêveries de Tomita. Superbe morceau. Une étrange marche militaire pave la voie à BIOhearT. Un synthé roucoule sur cette déambulation hallucinatoire, ouvrant toute grandes les portes à une lourde séquence rotative qui enrobe le mouvement d’une cascade ambulante. Percussions éparses, mellotron enveloppant sur synthé chaotique, le duo Italien réussit à soutirer une mélodie de ce mouvement désordonné. Un autre petit bijou qui conclut l’album le plus déroutant et complexe de Bionight. The Rain is Over est un très bon album de MÉ et ça fait du bien d’entendre du Bionight aussi créatif et audacieux. Ce duo Italien à l’art de séduire avec des compositions teintées de romantisme qui emprunte les sentiers des années analogues, avec une touche avant-gardiste propre à la culture musicale Italienne.
