3) NODUNE - min. 4.52
A long series of earthquakes and a sudden change in the whole planet's climate have turned the Earth into a huge
desert. The man has been walking for days, and his supply of water is quickly running out; "I will be dead soon,"
he thinks. But then, like a mirage, the outline of what once was a city appeares. Only big stubs of buildings stick
out of the ground and what used to be large avenues filled with crowds and expensive cars are now just piles of
debris. A sense of awe filles the man's heart as he steps into this eternal monument to the forever gone greatness
of humanity. Suddenly the noise and the smell of water hit the ears and the nostrils of the man, and he starts running
towards their source: the basement of a building. Walking down the dark stairs, leaving the light of the day behind him,
the man becomes aware of his own fear; but the water is there, it fills the whole basement like one of those huge
swimming pools in which people used to bathe before the world changed forever. He stands there, stunned, looking at the
water, inhaling its smell, listening to the drops falling, as his body freshens in the cold of the dark basement... |
