DAYBREAK - hypnotic feelings

Final chapter of our "Cosmic Trilogy." This album represents a newly found harmony within the duo and is probably the most relaxed and enjoyable of the threesome. It also features some peculiarities, like two solo tracks by the members of the duo, a guest musician in a song, a remix by FaBIO of the title track, and a personal interpretation by FaBIO of a song by Mac.

1) DAYBREAK - min. 6.41
We already had some material for this album but the title track (you know, THE track) was still missing. So one night I started fumbling around with the instruments and came up with some sequences and a rhythm. I thought the result was just worthless and was about to delete it all, but FaBIO seemed to be excited about it, instead. I didn't really see any reason to waste time working on it, but he insisted that he could get something good out of it, so I just said OK and went home. When we met the week after he made me listen to what he had done with that material; we were sitting in the darkness (as we always do when we listen to what we are working on), and the music started: I was awed. Even if the structure of the piece was still raw and needed a lot of work, he had turned it into something interesting, but above all he had put a solo on top of it all that for me was just hypnotic. Entirely played on a very short range of keys, it whirls around itself without a break, like a thought in your mind that you can't get rid of; it doesn't let you go, like a haunting memory... I'm aware that this solo is probably one of those things that either you love or you hate, but personally I loved it more than enough to convince me that we had our title track.

2) MOSSE DAL VENTO (Moved by the wind) - min. 8.40

You're sitting on top of a hill; from there you can see the beautiful valley and the mountains that surround it. It just stopped raining, and the rays of light pierce the carpet of clouds that move slowly across the afternoon sky. Everything is light and shade, and the peculiar after-rain smell fills the air. Your thoughts are moving with the clouds, peacefully... When you listen to this piece please lie down in the darkness, wear your earphones, and try to picture this image (or any other image that makes you feel good), slow down, and forget about the world for a few minutes...
3) NODUNE - min. 4.52
A long series of earthquakes and a sudden change in the whole planet's climate have turned the Earth into a huge desert. The man has been walking for days, and his supply of water is quickly running out; "I will be dead soon," he thinks. But then, like a mirage, the outline of what once was a city appeares. Only big stubs of buildings stick out of the ground and what used to be large avenues filled with crowds and expensive cars are now just piles of debris. A sense of awe filles the man's heart as he steps into this eternal monument to the forever gone greatness of humanity. Suddenly the noise and the smell of water hit the ears and the nostrils of the man, and he starts running towards their source: the basement of a building. Walking down the dark stairs, leaving the light of the day behind him, the man becomes aware of his own fear; but the water is there, it fills the whole basement like one of those huge swimming pools in which people used to bathe before the world changed forever. He stands there, stunned, looking at the water, inhaling its smell, listening to the drops falling, as his body freshens in the cold of the dark basement...
4) MIND PROBE - min. 6.10 - written, arranged and performed by Mac
The telepath is in the small room; the only dim source of light is a blue bulb hanging from the ceiling. A man is lying on a couch and the telepath is sitting behind him. Two agents of the government dressed in black stand in front of the only door. Once again his task is to enter the mind of a person he knows nothing about, and prowl around to steal information from it. The information he'll retrieve will be used against the man that lies unconscious in front of him. The telepath doesn't like it, but that's what he's paid for, because he is a Mind Probe. He really doesn't like it, but he starts violating the man's mind, searching every corner of it, skillfully swimming through the shimmering images and disturbing sounds the man's thoughts are made of, almost forgetting about the real world. Maybe some day he'll quit this job. If they let him ... This is a solo track by Mac.
5) METROPOLITIS - min. 2.47 - written, arranged, and performed by BIOnighT and Sbrizzi Andrea
Most big cities are overcrowded, dirty, full of criminals, chaotic in the worst sense of the word... Man wasn't made to live in a place like that, and the majority of people who are forced to are like inflammed parts of a sick organism: they suffer from what we could call Metropolitis... The guest musician who appears in this track is FaBIO's nephew, Sbrizzi Andrea. Most big cities are overcrowded, dirty, full of criminals, chaotic in the worst sense of the word... 6) RACHELE - min. 2.00 - arranged and performed by Sbrizzi FaBIO from a song by Mac
My solo album "Aphasia" features a piece that we called Your Blue Voice; it is my own interpretation of a song by FaBIO - Steel Nyll Suite - that appears on "Naif Music," his solo CD. When FaBIO listened to Aphasia he particularly liked a track called "Rachel" and decided to make his own version of it: Rachele. It's always fascinating for me to listen to these four tracks in a row, like a musical tennis match, and see how different they sound...
7) BOREAL LIGHT - min. 6.43
The light over your head makes it all look magic and awesome, with its slowly moving colors. You forget the freezing cold, your tiredness, your hunger... everything is as unreal and beautiful as a dream. But then the light disappears and you become painfully aware of the immense land of ice that lays before you and of your aching body, as the cold wind sweeps your feelings away. You still have a very long way to walk before you get to your camp, and you prey to God to help you make it...
8) DAYBREAK (FaBIO RMX) - min. 6.20
Remix by FaBIO of the title track, recorded "live" following just his instinct; the emotions felt while making this RMX were so intense that he prefers this version to the original. There is actually also a remix by Mac of this track, but we thought it was better not to include it in this album in order not to make it too repetitious.
9) SEQUOIA ROSSA (Redwood) - min. 6.06 - written, arranged, and performed by Sbrizzi FaBIO
The mighty, ancient redwood is as tall as a tower; it's been there for centuries, long before that place was turned into a park by men destined to live a much shorter life. Its innumerable leaves move slowly in the breeze, as the huge tree radiates power and calm... Let your mind ride with the fluid sounds of this solo track by FaBIO.
